Guidances collects only the data needed to operate the site, personalize optional reading experiences, deliver requested article alerts, and protect the service.
Data we may process
Optional profile data may include job role, industries, expertise level, intellectual level, background notes, knowledge-base tags, learning goals, preferred language, portfolio or topic tickers, session identifiers, and article interactions.
Story update email alerts
When a reader follows a specific article without creating an account, Guidances collects the submitted email address, the article ID, subscription timestamp, active/unsubscribed state, and basic delivery metadata needed to send requested alerts. Supabase stores the subscription record and Resend may process the email for confirmation and future article-update delivery. This email is used for that article alert only, not for account creation or marketing newsletters. Each alert includes an unsubscribe link, and readers may also contact Guidances to request deletion or help with unsubscribe/deletion controls.
Personalization
Personalization is opt-in. Profile inputs are used to adapt summaries, explanations, examples, and article implications. They should not be used to infer sensitive traits or make professional decisions about readers.
Retention and deletion
Guidances should retain profile, chat, and article-alert subscription data only as long as needed for the requested feature, safety, audit, and legal obligations. Account deletion and export requests can be started at /legal/account-deletion or by contacting contact@cgcorp.io.
Model providers
Article and profile context may be sent to model providers only when needed. Secrets, unnecessary personal data, and sensitive profile information should be redacted from prompts and logs.
